What is BOLFOR II?

It is the continuation of a government initiative that started 10 years ago to promote forestry development in Bolivia and the main achievements of which were: establishment of a national set of rules for the forestry sector; capacity-building in the public and private sectors to develop and execute sustainable forest management programs; protection of biodiversity and reduced degradation of soils, forests and water resources in the Bolivian lowlands. Starting from the gained experience, USAID structures BOLFOR II with the mission of consolidating the forestry regulations, thereto promoting local capacities and self-sustainability, social and gender equity and biodiversity conservation, thus contributing to improve the standard of living of the population through sustainable forest management.
